Eric Elwood kicked an injury-time penalty to send Galwegians into the semi-finals for the first time after a dramatic struggle with neighbours and old rivals Buccaneers at Crowley Park.

Galwegians led 11-5 at the break after Simon Allnutt for Buccaneers and Ger Brady had exchanged tries. But two tries from Ted Robinson for Buccaneers in response to one from Bryan Shelbourne for the home side, left just a point between them going into the final stages.

Replacement fly-half Colm Glynn struck a drop goal three minutes from time to edge Buccaneers in front before Elwood became the Galwegians hero with that priceless late penalty to set up a home semi-final next weekend against Dungannon.
