Rugby: Garryowen win dramatically at Dooradoyle

Garryowen kept their chances of a top four finish in the AIB All-Ireland league very much alive with a dramatic late win over Galwegians at Dooradoyle.

A convewrted try from the home side two minutes from time helkped Garryowen to an exciting win over the battling westerners.

Galwegians scored two first-half tries from Willie Ruane after two minutes and Pat Duignan after 16 minutes.

But a Kevin Burke try for Garryowen helped the home side to stay in contention.

Galwegians held a 16-13 interval lead but lost inspirational out-half Eric Elwood to injury.

Two Gavin Duffy penalties helped Galwwegians to a 22-16 lead with two minutes left, but Garryowen disrupted a Galwegians scrum close to the line and Paul Neville crashed over for the try. Jeremy Staunton added the conversiion to see Garryowen win by one point.
