AIL Rugby: Old Crescent in deeper trouble
Lansdowne 10, Old Crescent 9
Luckless Old Crescent were ploughed deeper into relegation trouble when
going down by an injury-time try to Lansdowne at Rosbrien.
Old Crescent looked all set for a morale-boosting win when leading 9-3 on
the stroke of full-time.
However, following a series of penalties close to the Old Crescent line,
Lansdowne's second row Stephen O'Connor crossed for a try.
Out half David Quigley added a conversion point to see Lansdowe run out
winners by the minimum margin.
It was hard luck on Old Crescent who led six-three at half-time thanks to
two penalty goals from Billy Treacy.
Quigley slotted over the Lansdowne reply in the eighth minute.
A further penalty from Treacy helped Old Crescent into a 9-3 lead 15 minutes
into the second half.
However, battling Lansdowne claimed the points thanks to O'Connor's try and
Quigley's conversion.
