Conor Whelan key to Newcastle West hopes

The All-Ireland Junior Cup kicks off this weekend, with three of the four Munster participants in action.

All three Munster representatives face tough ties, with Newcastle West the only side to have a home game though things won’t be easy against a strong Instonians side. The Limerick men have had a good start to their League campaign and will hope to replicate that form. Conor Whelan’s kicking will be a key asset.

Instonians are riding high in the Ulster League and go into the game on the back of a win over rivals Bangor. St Senan’s are away to Monivea. The Galway team a will fancy their chances.

Muskerry are struggling and still seek their first league win. They will be happy to have a go at Monkstown. Clonmel have received a walkover from Ballinasloe, who have been struck by a heavy injury list.

Elsewhere, Enniscorthy host Dromore. Bangor play Clondalkin while Ashbourne travel to Westport.

In Division One of the Munster Junior League Old Christians host St Mary’s.
