While Leinster’s girls beat Connacht 9-0 to finish second in the championship, Munster edged out Ulster 5-4 to take the Under 18 title with wins over all three provinces.

Monkstown’s Ciara Leonard and Shannon’s Lisa O’Shea fell to Maeve Cummins and Hannah Henderson in the opening foursomes.

Bi tWins for Killarney’s Catriona Griffin and Nicola Rainsford over Judithe Allen and Amy O’Donnell and for Roscrea’s Clodagh Jones and East Cork’s Grace McGrath sent the Munster girls on the road to victory thanks to that 2-1 advantage.

The singles were shared 3-3 with wins for Griffin, Jones and McGrath sealing Munster’s overall victory.

In the Ladies’ Interprovincials Munster ended up third with one win from three matches after going down 7-2 to winners Ulster.

While Lahinch’s Jenny Hennessy and Tipperary’s Aoife Lowry halved the opening foursomes, Doneraile’s Paula Walsh and East Clare’s Tara Whelan fell to Tara Gribben and Chloe Weir before Muskerry’s Jean O’Driscoll and Douglas’ Karen O’Neill fell 3 and 2 to Victoria Craig and Niamh Ward.

A massive response was required in the singles but Munster managed just one win from five as Jenny Hennessy beat Victoria Craig 3 and 2 in what was a deserved Ulster victory.

Leinster beat Connacht 5-4 to finish second overall in the Ladies’ Matches.
