Women’s Sevens face tough mission in Olympic qualifiers
Ireland won the Plate Trophy in the opening round of competition in Russia and hope to build on that, even iftheir opponents are competing on the World Circuit.
The Ireland Men’s Sevens squad will take part in Rugby Europe Men’s Division B tournament in Croatia and would appear to face less daunting opposition in Slovenia, Bulgaria and Austria.
The highest-ranked eligible team from Division B qualifies to participate in the Rugby Europe Olympic Repechage Tournament in Lisbon on July 18 and 19.
The winner of the Lisbon tournament will then have the opportunity to compete in the World Olympic Repechage in 2016 to secure the last spot for Rio 2016.
