Fancied Presentation Brothers won’t be taking Glenstal challenge lightly
Team spokesman Caleb Sheehan believes today’s game at the Mardyke (4 pm) is likely to be a closely fought battle against a well organised and dogged opposition.
Beaten by Crescent Comprehensive in the last round, Glenstal, nevertheless, put it up to the opposition and led 10-0 at one stage. “Any team capable of scoring two tries against Crescent, who would have been rated as cup favourites, would have to be taken seriously,” said Sheehan. “Clearly, they’re a good side and we’re not taking anything for granted, they’ve got a good pack and a very good out half, lots of things go through him.”
Pres defeated Castletroy 33-10 in the last round and substitute Sean French grabbed himself a brace of tries. But while he and others provide the team with considerable pace behind the scrum, the Cork college will also look to Cian Fitzgerald, a number eight or six, to provide inspiration up front.
Pres coughed up some possession out of touch on the last occasion and they will seek an improvement in that area.
“We struggled the last day in the line out, we need to improve set pieces but if we can improve those and get a good platform to play I’m hoping we will be strong enough.
“Another thing is the fact we have home advantage, we would hope that would stand to us, particularly because we have already played on the ground.”
