Rob Penney will walk away from the Munster job with considerable regret he wasn’t party to at least one appearance in a Heineken Cup final in his two years at the helm.

There was no excuse for failure following Munster’s demise by holders Toulon in Marseille on Sunday, but the coach did lament the fact a winning opportunity got away.

“You know, these are big games, they come down to small margins, you cannot (afford to) be 85% accurate. That really cost us. You can put that down to a side like Toulon, with all the experience they have, and I suppose in some areas we didn’t have that experience.”
