England star to be grilled after Irish fan bought his ticket online
Rose Waldron, who is originally from Tullamore, was “desperate” to go to the Triple Crown clash between Ireland and England at Twickenham.
“I’d tried every other avenue and at 10pm on Friday night I decided to buy a ticket online,” she said.
The ticket cost €85 but the website Viagogo listed it for €425. However, it cost €535 with VAT and fees added.
“What a surprise when I received my ticket to find it was allocated to Owen Farrell of the England rugby team,” she said.
A note on the stub stated it was an ‘England Team’ ticket and displayed the name O Farrell. It is understood the Lions out-half did not know the ticket would be sold online and did not make money out of it.
“We are looking into the circumstances around how this ticket came to be available on a secondary ticketing site, something we take extremely seriously,” and RFU statement read.
