Cook warns Gloucester are up for a battle
The Cherry and Whites hit rock bottom at home last weekend when they were crushed 29-8 rivals Saracens to leave them out of contention for the Aviva Premiership, lying in eighth place.
The defeat adds to their woes in Europe, where a home defeat to Edinburgh in round four leaves them five points adrift of Munster in Heineken Cup Pool 6 with two games to play.
Cook, Gloucester’s man of the match against Saracens, believes his side are not out of the hunt for a quarter-final spot and is targeting a rebound this weekend against Munster followed by a victory in Perpignan to upset the odds.
“We need to get momentum, confidence and start playing rugby,” Cook said.
“We have two massive opportunities and just have to go out and show what we can do. (Munster) are a very good side but hopefully Kingsholm will be rocking and we can give them a good show. If we can get a win next week, we’re right up there in Europe.
“With Perpignan away in the final game you never know what French teams will be like. It’s a massive opportunity for us and we will be all guns blazing. We just have to pull ourselves together and work hard this week. Munster are a physical side but we know we can match it and will give it a real good go.”
