With minutes left on the clock, Munster were hanging onto a seven-point lead and likely to yield at least a losing bonus point to the English outfit. But they dug deep and produced a late offensive that produced a crucial try by C J Stander, unerring goalkicker Johnny Holland converting.

Although it was far from a comprehensive win and Munster made a number of disappointing unforced errors, coach Peter Malone was pleased with the outcome.
