Munster player of the year Tommy O’Donnell has pledged his future to the province for two more seasons after signing a contract extension that will secure the Ireland back row in this country until summer 2016.

O’Donnell extends Munster deal to 2016

The 26-year-old Tipperary native, who won his first two caps for Ireland on the summer tour to North America, is currently sidelined with a knee injury suffered in September against Zebre but having last week been declared ahead of schedule in his recovery, there was more cheer for O’Donnell yesterday with the agreement of a new deal with Munster.

“This is where I want to be and I enjoy playing my rugby here,” O’Donnell said. “I know it hasn’t been the best of starts to the season for me with injury, but like last year I just want to come back fighting and push on to the next level.”
