O’Mahony prepared for back row battle of attrition

It was in the howling wind and rain at Thomond Park three years ago that the Cork Constitution back row marked his first Munster start by savouring victory over Australia on a night hailed by many as the birth of the province’s next generation of stars.
That has certainly proved to be the case for O’Mahony, who can look back on the intervening period and tick off 17 Test caps, the captaincy of both Munster and Ireland and, just last Saturday, his first international try.
