Bennett holds nerve as Shannon snatch it
Dolphin, minus key players involved with the Munster A team, fell 12 points behind following tries from David O’Donovan and Cronan Gleeson, one of which Bennett converted. Barry Keeshan knocked over two penalties for Dolphin before Shannon regained control with a third try from Keith White and a penalty and conversion by Bennett for a 22-6 interval lead. Dolphin began the second half brightly with a Miah Cronin try which Keeshan converted before the same player landed a penalty for 22-16. Bennett made it 25-16 only for Dolphin’s character to shine through as Keeshan knocked over a penalty and then converted Cronin’s second try to edge his side ahead, 26-25. A penalty each to Bennett and Keeshan kept the Cork side ahead until the third minute of stoppage time saw Bennett keep his cool under such tremendous pressure.
