New laws won’t be a bother for Munster prop Archer

The Munster prop faces a dress rehearsal ahead of the new season this evening against London Irish at Musgrave Park (7pm), eight days out from the opening RaboDirect Pro 12 competitive game of the season against Edinburgh.

With it comes a chance to practise the new laws which have changed at the impact from “crouch, touch, set” to “crouch, bind, set”. The rationale is that scrum engagements will be a lot closer and those involved will take up lower body positions.
