It’s just one of the many conundrums facing Warren Gatland ahead of the Lions’ first Test against Australia but, in Sergio Parisse, the Kiwi has been offered the perfect litmus test for his pair of number eights.

The Irish captain will face off against the Italian on Friday when Leinster take on Stade Francais in the Amlin Challenge Cup final and the odds are that Faletau will start for the Lions when they face Parisse and the Barbarians in the tour opener in Hong Kong on June 1.
