No deal yet for Sexton, claim Racing Metro
Yesterday’s edition of L’Equipe said Lorenzetti had changed his tune over the Leinster stand-off, mainly it seems because of Sexton’s financial demands.
“The chase is certainly warming up,” said Lorenzetti. “The player’s financial demands have come down. But I haven’t signed anything. We are also in discussion with another international player.”
It is understood that the money on offer has gone down from the €750,000 which was initially reported to €500,000, which is in line with what the IRFU were prepared to offer Sexton to stay in Ireland.
Racing may also be in negotiation with Jonny Wilkinson, the Top 14’s top earner with €400,000 a year, who may be on his way out of Toulon. That has led to Sexton being linked with Toulon and also Clermont, who have decided to let David Skrela leave.
