Kearney named Player of the Year

Rob Kearney may be missing Ireland’s autumn internationals through injury but he is still busy collecting awards after last night being named the Rugby Writers of Ireland Player of the Year.

The Leinster and Ireland full-back, currently recovering from back surgery, is the current European Rugby Player of the Year having helped guide his province to a successful Heineken Cup title defence, Leinster’s third in four years.

Kearney was honoured at last night’s Annual Rugby Writers of Ireland/Guinness Awards dinner at the Aviva Stadium.
