With Kidney’s options for his choices in filling the number 15 jersey in advance of the autumn internationals diminishing rapidly, Bowe offers a decent option, although the Ulster wing would obviously prefer to play a little wider.

In advance of the league leaders’ clash away to the Newport Gwent Dragons at Rodney Parade, there will be a considerable amount of debate as to the immediate future of Bowe, but that debate is unlikely to worry the Monaghan man, whose focus right now will be on retaining his position on the Ireland flank.
