Munster, to their credit, battled hard to stay in the contest, but Leinster, with something like 60 per cent of possession, were full value for the win that saw them outscore their southern rivals by three tries to one.
The home side struggled to contain the Leinster maul and they had some difficulty in the scrum as well, albeit on a lesser scale. They did have some strong displays from the likes of Toby Admakin, Richard Kingston and Isaac Daly around the field, while full back Dylan Cadogan made some strong surging runs.
Leinster just had a little bit more to offer though; Steve Reamsbottom led from the front and he was ably supported by Sam Gibney, Donnacha Carroll and Cormac Hughes in midfield.
The visitors stormed straight into the lead with a third minute try from Dylan Doyle after Munster had struggled to contain two powerful rolling mauls off lineouts.
Munster pulled back the initiative eight minutes later when Andrew Carey was sent away by Brian Moore for a try and Cadogan added the extras.
The full-back missed two previous penalty chances but got the third to secure a 10-5 lead before Leinster, playing against a stiff breeze, got a crucial try from Conor Dempsey just on the half time whistle.
Although Munster battled bravely in the second spell they struggled through a lack of territory.
Hughes nipped in for a try and converted it himself after 21 minutes and while Cadogan narrowed the gap to four points — 17-13 — with a penalty, it was not enough. Leinster scored their third try through winger Niall James five minutes from the end.
