Boyne sorry for wrongful citing in gouging case

Boyne Rugby Club have apologised to a player and a Cork club for wrongly accusing them of gouging their player’s eye, causing him to lose sight out of it.

The Meath club cited a Highfield player for gouging former Leinster junior inter-provincial captain and back row Eoin Collins’ right eye during an AIL Division Two clash on December 12.

However the club now accept there was not sufficient evidence to show the incident took place.
