Dolphin too hot to handle

DOLPHIN won their 20th Cork Charity Cup title with a comprehensive victory over Highfield at Musgrave Park last night.

Dolphin too hot to handle

Playing with the advantage of the strong wind in the opening half, Dolphin’s experience told as they built up an 18-0 interval lead. Skipper Barry Keeshan opened the scoring with a drop goal after 17 minutes.

Tries from John Quill and Niall Walley and a conversion and penalty by Keeshan ensured a comfortable half time lead.

Highfield came more into the game after the break and despite laying siege to the Dolphin line, the home side’s defence stood solid.

In a rare Dolphin attack, Keeshan extended Dolphin’s advantage with a penalty after 56 minutes and then three minutes from time Steve Collins got in for a try in the corner and Keeshan converted.
