Limited tickets to go on sale at Thomond

MUNSTER will be in the rare position of offering Heineken Cup tickets for sale at Thomond Park on a matchday today with several hundred terrace tickets up for grabs from midday at the Limerick stadium.

The usual European sell-out for a Munster home match has not materialised and so for the first time in several seasons, the ticket booth at the corner of the east stand will open up from noon ahead of this evening’s 6pm kick-off against Pool 1 favourites and last season’s finalists Northampton Saints.

Speaking last night, Munster ticket sales manager Brian Cheasty told the Irish Examiner: “We would expect there to be terrace tickets on sale tomorrow, less than 500, the ways things are selling at the moment.

“Earlier this morning there were in around the 800 mark on sale, so I would expect we’d have less than 500 [for sale on matchday].”

It is understood that Northampton sent back around half of their allocation for the game but will still be bringing around 1,500 supporters from the English East Midlands to Limerick this evening.
