Limerick on the double

LIMERICK completed a double escape on Saturday as the home side’s prevailed in Saturday’s Ulster Bank League relegation/promotion play-offs.

Bruff retained their Ulster Bank League Division 1B status with a 25-12 victory over Bective Rangers.

The result capped one of the club’s greatest seasons with the Munster Senior Cup and the Bateman All-Ireland Cup in the bag.

Their form since Christmas was worrying but this play-off, carrying an air of a cup final, was right up their street and they blitzed Bective Rangers who remain in Division 2A at Kilballyowen Park.

Meanwhile in the city of Limerick, Old Crescent found themselves trailing 8-0 to Banbridge during the first-half but fought their way back, edging ahead late on and winning 16-15 to maintain their place in Division 2 for another season.

It completed a clean sweep for teams from the higher divisions in this year’s play-offs as Garryowen also triumphed over Buccaneers.
