Munsters will travel with real belief
These two great Munster rivals played out an exciting 32-19 game, but it was no surprise that the victors that day, Cork Con, had to yield - 6-3- to Young Munster in the return at Clifford Park.
Don’t be surprised to see Young Munster provide at least half the gate back at Temple Hill tomorrow and to help make this AIL semi-final a special occasion.
The visitors are well organised, extremely hard to break down and have one of the best place-kickers around in Alan Kingsley. The player/coach, Mike Prendergast, has his head screwed on too.
His more experienced Cork Con counterpart Brian Walsh has a little more to contend with and must juggle his resources between what Tony McGahan’s Munster require in Llanelli tonight, and what he would like to see on the pitch tomorrow.
Simon Zebo and Stephen Archer are missing but Munster replacements, Denis Fogarty, Darragh Hurley, Duncan Williams and Scott Deasy could yet feature.
The second semi-final takes place today at Anglesea Road (2.30pm) between Old Belvedere, who finished second in Division 1A and Clontarf, winners of 1B.
Meanwhile, Garryowen will be fighting for Division 1A survival when they take on Buccaneers at Dooradoyle today (2.30pm) in a relegation/promotion clash.
