Defeat in Toulon six days earlier had left the province open to all sorts of scrutiny as the door shut on a dozen years of Heineken Cup campaigns in the last eight and beyond. And having taken the criticism and calls for heads to roll squarely on the chin, Leamy and O’Driscoll insisted there was plenty of life in Munster yet.

The three-try rally late on that helped produce the win over London Irish at Thomond Park on Saturday in the final Heineken Cup group game and the previous night’s thumping British & Irish Cup win over Esher for the Munster A team gave Leamy cause for optimism.
