Rob ready for French test

ROB KEARNEY believes Toulon and Racing Metro need to prove their worth at Heineken Cup level before they can be considered challengers.

The big spending French sides will certainly add glamour and big names to this year’s tournament with the likes of Sebastien Chabal, Lionel Nallet, Juan Martin Hernandez and Frans Steyn set to take the field at the RDS on Saturday.

But Kearney is not getting carried away by looking at the emerging French sides’ teamsheets, knowing as a Leinster player how long it takes to make a European breakthrough.
