Munster star Earls suffers injury blow

MUNSTER and Ireland threequarter Keith Earls suffered another injury in training yesterday, putting a quick return to full fitness into further doubt.

He went over on an ankle in a non-contact situation and left the field for medical treatment.

The good news is that an x-ray revealed no breaks but he will require a precautionary scan later in the week.

Earls’ career has been dogged by bad luck in recent times. A groin strain forced him out of Ireland’s summer tour of New Zealand and Australia and the Munster management are unsure when he will be available for a full return to action.

This latest setback will be a huge concern for his respective coaches, Declan Kidney and Tony McGahan, as preparations begin for busy campaigns with both Ireland and Munster.
