Horgan: indigenous ruling hurts southern unions

SHANE HORGAN believes the three major southern hemisphere unions are doing themselves no favours insisting all of their international players play for indigenous club sides and not in Europe.

Leinster suffered as a result of that very ruling recently when the Australian Rugby Union refused to allow Rocky Elsom play for the province and the Wallabies in the same season, and the player has signed for ACT Brumbies instead.

“There is a huge conveyor belt of players coming through the southern hemisphere,” said Horgan.
