Horan savours the moment as Croker ambition is realised

MARCUS HORAN says he almost broke out in a cold sweat as he contemplated failing to convert Ronan O’Gara’s tee-up for his sixth try for Ireland at Croke Park on Saturday.

Horan felt he had to wait an “age” as Ronan O’Gara’s perfectly weighted cross kick descended into the “bread basket” for the most crucial score of the game early in the second half.

Ireland, under pressure in the first half, led 14-6 before Horan’s score gave them more breathing space and the confidence to push on for a comfortable win.
