FUNNY old game, rugby. Less than three weeks ago you could have made a very strong case for Irish team places for a whole host of Leinster forwards — most notably Bernard Jackman, Shane Jennings, Jamie Heaslip and Leo Cullen — after they had turned Munster over at Musgrave Park.

O’Sullivan’s selection dilemma

The quartet looked to have usurped those who failed to deliver in the World Cup and Irish rugby was crying out for change.

Most wanted the head of Eddie O’Sullivan, but the players who had flopped so badly when so much was expected weren’t escaping the would-be firing squad. And when the Munster men failed to deliver in a game that means more than any other in domestic rugby, the cry went out for change, and lots of it.
