Dunne drops Leinster hint with dramatic delivery

IT was a scenario to turn some into a quivering wreck, and make a hero of others.

With the game deep in injury-time and Leinster holding a painfully thin two-point lead, Andy Dunne trotted on to the pitch at the Stade Armandie only to be informed that his first input would be to attempt a game-breaking drop kick. He had been on the pitch ten seconds but he nailed it.

“There was a bit of hassle on the sideline about getting on so I tried to ignore that and focus on the job in hand,” said Dunne who also converted Ronan McCormack’s latch-ditch try minutes later. “The call had already been made (for the drop) when I came on. It looked on, so I just had a shot and it came off. It was a nice feeling, for sure.”
