IRELAND head coach Eddie O’Sullivan reckons Ireland’s props are suffering as a result of the changes made to the scrum in recent years.

O’Sullivan says the scrum was ever invented to be a collision but, he feels, it has become one and bemoans the fact that the role of the tight head prop has been significantly reduced.

He feels that at the time of engagement, the scrum is all about ‘the hit’ and, as a consequence, the technically smarter scrummagers are suffering.
