With just a minute to go, Quins prop Laurent Gomez was sin-binned and Wasps got the final winning score.

The visitors got off to the flying start after only 86 seconds, when England Sevens winger Ugo Monye sped in from 52 metres, with Andy Dunn converting from the touchline.

Despite Van Gisbergen’s penalty midway through the first half, Quins went further in front following a scrum and a lightning break from George Harder.

With men spare on either side, flank forward Pat Sanderson nipped in for a second try, which Andy Dunne converted for a 14-3 lead.

However, the sin-binning of Harlequins Karl Rudzki five minutes before the break saw the hosts use the extra man to get George Skivington over after a video touch judge decision, which went unconverted.

A Van Gisbergen try and conversion in first-half stoppage time saw Wasps go into the interval ahead 15-14.
