Lions tour an ego trip-up

ON December 30 last year, Clive Woodward said: “This Lions thing could turn out as big as the World Cup win and the pressure could be greater in New Zealand than it had been in Australia in 03.”

He went on to say: "You can just about cope with letting down your country, but letting down three others as well would be too much to bear."

On April 16, 2005, Woodward is on record as saying: "It would be bigger than England winning the World Cup to go down there and win. Men will rise above their station as mere rugby players and march into history as legends."
