Waterpark in mood to move up

HIGH flying Waterpark could be set to move up a division if their current run continues.

Geographically isolated, the Waterford team romped to a comprehensive 45-11 win over Connemara, who have made a fair shape this season.

Waterpark not only won the game but they also secured a bonus point for their efforts and that extended their lead at the top of the table over Corinthians. The Galway side did their best and secured victory at home to Old Wesley.

Despite the fact that they scored 28 points, they were unable to add the extra point for four tries scored.

Clonakilty keep on winning although theirs was a hard-earned bonus at Shannonvale Cross. In a tightly contested match, they scored the only try of the game against City of Derry and won by 10 points to six to keep them well in the hunt for promotion.

Instonians lost ground when they went down to Wanderers in Dublin and there will be some delight in Merrion and Lansdowne Roads that the threat of demotion now appears to have disappeared. Having lost narrowly to Derry last week, Highfield must have suffered somewhat of a hangover because they were unable to see off the challenge of Suttonians at Woodleight Park. Still, it wasn’t a bad result at the end of the day as the sides fought hard to secure an honourable 15-15 draw.

At the bottom of the table, things get worse for Skerries. They were hammered 53-3 by Banbridge who scored seven tries. Changed times for the seaside club, who were viewed as a difficult side to beat in the past few seasons.

Not much luck for Monkstown either, although they did fare a bit better with a home 8-8 draw against Queens University. The two clubs prop up the table, while Naas and Suttonians are only just ahead. Naas had little luck on home ground when they fell 20-3 to Ballina.
