Kilroy on song as Garryowen win again

CONOR KILROY’S return to Garryowen from Blackrock has coincided with another good AIB League run from the Dooradoyle outfit.

Lowly Ballymena did their best to knock the light blues out of second spot at Eaton Park on Saturday, but Kilroy came to the rescue with 13 points in the 28-24 win.

Paddy Wallace had 19 points for the losers but Garryowen hang on to their spot behind Shannon while Cork Constitution remain in third place.

All the major challengers won this weekend, with fourth placed Harlequins rampant in a 41-14 bonus point victory over Dublin University.

Clontarf kept pace with an expected win over Lansdowne, and they too secured a bonus point when they scored a 35-20 win at Lansdowne Road. That keeps Clontarf in fifth, whilst putting further pressure on Lansdowne fourth from the bottom.

Dungannon had to fight hard to get the better of lowly County Carlow but won 18-13 thanks to tries from former Irish international Tyrone Howe and youngster Oisín Hennessy.

St. Mary’s College picked up a bonus point at they trounced Galwegians 30-13 at Templeville Road while UL Bohemians grabbed five points at Thomond Park with a 31-23 victory over UCD. That allowed them move into eighth place, a point ahead of the Belfield students.
