Nucifora gives Brumbies the blues

DAVID NUCIFORA has resisted the temptation to rub salt into the ACT Brumbies’ wounds after their 17-0 defeat at the hands of the Blues on Saturday.

Nucifora could have been forgiven had he done so considering the way he was unceremoniously dumped as Brumbies coach after leading them to the 2004 Super 12 title.

Now working for the Blues as a technical adviser, a position held by Graham Henry until his appointment as the New Zealand coach, Nucifora watched with delight as the Blues turned around their faltering season with victory at Eden Park.

But he said the months leading up to this match had been difficult, given the nature of his dismissal last year - he was told part-way through the campaign he would no longer be required when it ended.

“I am glad to have it out of the way to be honest,” he admitted.
