Wilkinson to return against Edinburgh

ENGLAND captain Jonny Wilkinson came through training yesterday and should make his long-awaited return from injury against Edinburgh on Saturday next.

Wilkinson - who has not played since on October 10 when he injured his bicep - took part in full-contact training with Newcastle yesterday.

“He came through training, and if there’s no reaction there’s every chance he could feature,” Falcons director of rugby Rob Andrew told BBC Sport.

Wilkinson is set to be included in the Newcastle squad when it is announced at noon today ahead of the Heineken Cup match away to Edinburgh on Saturday.

The England fly-half injured his upper right arm against Wasps two months ago and has not played since.

A shoulder injury had earlier kept Wilkinson out of action for eight months following victory in the World Cup final in Australia.
