Byrne family proud of Lion-hearted dad

THEY may look like cool blondes but the three women in British and Irish Lions player Shane Byrne’s life are already feeling jittery about tomorrow morning’s big game.

Shane, who came on as a sub and went on to play a lead role in the 23-6 victory over Wellington, had one of the “greatest moments of his life” when he was picked to line out against New Zealand, says his wife, Caroline.

“This is huge. This is really huge. For Shane, it is really the highest-ranking promotion that he could possibly get. We are over the moon for him but it’s nerve-wracking for me,” she said.
