Record crowd see Irish lose

BATH coach John Connolly was more relieved than satisfied with yesterday’s 21-20 victory against London Irish at the Madejski Stadium.

The narrow win was the west country outfit’s eighth win out of nine on the road in the Zurich Premiership this season and it keeps them six points ahead of Wasps at the top of the table.

The meeting of the sides brought a record Premiership crowd of 20,840 to the Madejski Stadium, eclipsing by just 47 the previous mark set by Bristol and Bath at Bristol City’s Ashton Gate last May.
