Gregan rubbishes claims

WALLABIES captain George Gregan said South African coach Jake White’s claim that infiltration of rugby league culture is damaging Australian rugby was “hysterical.”

White said he had little doubt events of the past two weeks had affected Australia's preparations for last Saturday's Tri-Nations Test, won by South Africa 22-16, and blamed a rugby league culture for the Wallabies' off-field problems.

In a tour blighted by off-field controversy, reserve scrum-half Matt Henjak was sent home following a nightclub altercation with team-mate and former rugby league international Lote Tuqiri at a Cape Town nightclub, just two days before their first Test with the Springboks.
