Battling Clontarf stop Shannon’s flow
The Dubliners ran in five tries against Shannon, which was something of a surprise on a very heavy Castle Avenue pitch, while the visitors could only manage two in response and consequently there was not even a bonus point in the offing for them.
Shannon coach Michael Galwey said later that while he was disappointed with the result, occasional defeats were part and parcel of life in a competitive league like the AIL.
“It was a bad day at the office alright,” he commented, adding: “We turned over three balls in the course of the game and they scored tries off each of them.
“But, realistically, we targeted a top four finish when we began this campaign and we are still on track for that, so I am not too disheartened. You’re always going to lose a few during the season and this was just one of those days.”
