Scots do the Italian job despite forgettable display

SCOTLAND forward Simon Taylor was pleased with his side’s opening RBS Six Nations victory - despite a disappointing overall performance.

Matt Williams’ side won their first match in the tournament 18-10 with a scrappy, forgettable success over Italy at a tension-filled Murrayfield.

The hosts were worryingly poor in the first half and certainly did not deserve their 6-3 lead at the interval, having barely been able to string together two phases of possession.
