THE Munster Senior Cup may not have the lustre of old, but any semi-final between Garryowen and Shannon is calculated to stir interest among Limerick’s rugby afficianados.

The aged rivals occupy the top two places in Division One of the All Ireland League and while Shannon hold first spot, their recent AIB Cup defeat to Cork Constitution will offer Garryowen added confidence going into tonight’s Thomond Park clash (7.15pm) - especially after Garryowen dumped Cons en route to the semi final.

In fact, of the four semi-finalists in the Munster Senior Cup, only Garryowen remain in the All Ireland Cup, having defeated Dolphin and with Cashel knocked out by Galwegians.
