Yachvili set for another battle with Stringer
The two clashed in the RBS Six Nations with the Frenchman admitting: “there was some pretty fierce competition between us.” And he expects more of the same in the Heineken Cup quarter-final at Estadio Anoeta in San Sebastian.
“We are expecting a big game and a huge challenge from Munster,” said the Biarritz scrum half. “Munster boasts a great deal of talent with so many in the Irish national squad. Having been involved in six quarter-finals in the last six seasons they are a top European team.”
And he pinpoints the power of the visiting pack as a key area of concern for the hosts.
“They have a big pack and produce good set piece play, and despite the loss of Ronan O’Gara, they still have many talented players. However we are confident.
“It’s a source of great pride to host a team like Munster in a stadium like Anoeta. It’s an unfamiliar ground to us but we also know the fierce pride of our supporters and that they will turn out in their thousands to support us.”
The quarter-final is, the first tournament match to be played in Spain and set to be watched by the biggest crowd for a Rugby Union match in that country.
The game has long been a 32,000 sell-out and with the “ Full House” signs going up at all four venues, over 161,000 spectators will go through the turnstiles at Le Stadium in Toulouse, Parc des Princes in Paris, Lansdowne Road in Dublin and San Sebastian to set a new tournament quarter-finals record.
