SCOTLAND coach Matt Williams insists his side’s ailing fortunes would change for the better if English-based internationals returned north of the border.

The Australian is trying to pick up the pieces following his team’s bitterly disappointing RBS 6 Nations campaign which saw them finish bottom of the table after failing to record a single victory. Williams has pleaded for some of the country’s leading players to return north to help the cause.

However, Williams, who announced his vision of a Fortress Scotland on his appointment, admits the Scottish Rugby Union’s financial predicament means it is going to be hard to lure players back.
