Jones banned after failing drug test

A TRIBUNAL met in London last week to hear the case brought against Caerphilly’s Paul Jones as a result of an anti-doping test conducted after the Parker Shield final against Castres at the Madejski Stadium, Reading, on May 25.

The test showed an estimated concentration of 450ng/ml of Salbutamol. The tribunal accepted that the player is asthmatic and medically needs Salbutamol but ruled he was guilty of inadvertently failing to disclose the medical need to use it

on the player consent form.

Jones was banned for three months, running from July 29 to October 29.
