Trinity to keep IRFU ahead of the pack

THE future of Irish rugby received a tremendous boost yesterday as the IRFU unveiled an advanced research programme at Trinity College, sponsored by electricity provider Energia, that will feed into Ireland’s development programmes in the coming years.

“It is important to keep one step ahead of other countries,” said IRFU National Fitness Director Dr Liam Hennessy. “We have been trying to do that in recent years but some others have caught up, doing the work we were doing.

“Trinity College is renowned for its work in this field and the field of sports science, so it is a welcome development that we have joined with them in this venture.
