Munster roar sets the radio waves alight

A RADIO station has been deluged with requests for a song written and sung by station staff to mark the upcoming Heineken European Cup semi-final between Munster and Leinster.

Limerick’s Live 95FM DJs, sports commentators, journalists, advertising and production staff have all been involved in recording The Munster Roar.

To the music of the Smokey hit Alice, the lyrics were written by producer Eric Murphy.

Live 95FM boss David Tighe said the station has always put together a song when Munster advances to the final stages of the European Cup

He said: “Eric came up with the song idea for the Munster team some years ago and this one seems to have gone down particularly well with listeners. We always like to lend our support to the Munster team and it’s a bit of fun.”

One line of the chorus - Who the ... is Leinster - has been sanitised with a blip. “We are a family station and we’ll leave that element of the lyrics to our listeners’ imagination.”

The station group go under the name of The Packet Tripe Singers.
